ABOUT US
Started out of a passion for the sport, Mountain Biker Magazine was launched in KwaZulu-Natal in August 2005 – and there’s been no looking back. It is a niche, bi-monthly publication, specifically targeting the ever-growing mountain biking market directly. Our primary aim is to lift the profile of mountain biking in South Africa and to create local heroes by giving recognition to those athlete’s that are achieving top results locally and on the world stage!
A fast growing sport in South Africa, mountain biking provides an opportunity for families to enjoy the outdoors whilst maintaining their fitness and a healthy lifestyle. We not only cover the races and events but also the lifestyle associated with mountain biking.
With vibrant photography, local content and engaging design Mountain Biker Magazine makes for excellent reading and we consistently receive positive feedback from excited readers when each issue is released.
ABOUT THE EDITOR
After working for her father’s automotive engineering business in Pinetown for 15 years, Mylene Loumeau decided to follow her own passion for her newfound pastime, which had brought about a healthy lifestyle and kept her in shape, whilst having fun. Mylene wanted to share this mountain biking experience with as many people as she could. Disappointed in the apathy she received when attempting to promote mountain biking within various press mediums, Mylene decided in Easter 2005 to initiate her own publication, and Mountain Biker Magazine was born in August of that year!
ABOUT THE GRAPHIC DESIGNERS
Mylene has always been quick to point out that without the assistance and personal help of Tanya Visser, editor of The Gardener magazine, the thought of starting a mountain biking publication would still be a pipedream. The same applies to the talent of her two younger brothers, Daniel and Raymond Loumeau, whose passion is that of their graphic design work. Whilst they were still students at DUT in Durban, Mylene was able to see the word documents and photographs come to life in the form of perfectly designed magazine pages, providing the exact feel that she requested to be suitable for the market she intended reaching in the format of Mountain Biker Magazine. The relationship has been a good one, and since 2005, Mountain Biker Magazine continues to break new ground with the look and feel of their magazine, often taking the design and layout aspect to new heights in its clever construction.
